Features of Vinyl flooring

Vinyl flooring is a large, continuous and flexible sheet. It is commonly used because it is durable and easy to install just like laminate flooring. Somehow, it decomposes and releases toxic gasses when on fire and hard to extinguish and waterproof, it can be used in bathrooms and basements.

Laminate Flooring Pros and Cons

laminate flooringLaminate flooring is constructed in layers and stuck together through a lamination process. The main layer is made from high-density fibreboard. This makes the material much more rigid than vinyl flooring. It is installed using click and lock assembly. It does not need to be nailed or glued down to the subfloor. However, laminate flooring material should never get wet.  Moisture and humidity can damage laminate floors. Therefore, it is not recommended to install laminate flooring in bathroom, kitchen or other high moisture areas. Same goes for wood flooring, which is sensitive to moisture.

The advantage laminate flooring has over vinyl flooring and wood flooring comes is the cost. It has a lower upfront cost, but it has a shorter lifespan as compared to vinyl flooring and wood flooring. So, vinyl flooring is the more cost-effective. Although the cost of wood flooring is higher, it is worth because the wood flooring is the most long-lasting and sturdiest of all flooring materials.

It can be potentially dangerous and should be a concern for families with small children. In contrast, vinyl flooring has a very little impact on indoor air quality within the home.
